Story Behind The Song
Buster Doss wrote a song about someone down and out in America, who couldn't get a piece of the dream for his own. I took the song and changed it's message while bowing to the heart of pain in the original.
Song Description
The American Dream is not really all about material possessions; true success in America for anyway starts with being successful as a human being - being a good neighbor, watching out for others, being humanistic and compassionate and helping those most in need.

Lyrics
I was born in Houston, Texas USA
To plain poor modest people who work hard every day
Mama told me no matter what you treat folks decently
Cause that there is the heart and soul of the New American Dream
But I was young and hungry for wealth and luxury
I found folks who could teach me how to satisfy my need
They taught me to use people, work em hard cheap, even free
So soon I'd see I had achieved the New American Dream
Mama, she was wrong about the things that she taught me
Because the people, they're just suckers
Who can be used so easily
To turn your pennies into dollars
And stare like fools so greedily
While you enjoy the just rewards of
The New American Dream
Today on the street corner a stranger spoke to me
For which I was grateful
These days I'm so lonely
He said my Mama taught me no matter what
You treat folks decently
And that there is the heart and soul of
The New American Dream
