Story Behind The Song
My manager locked me up in a cabin in the Arizona mountains, beyond all distractions, for two weeks, to write. With no human contact, I befriended my one companion, a fly, and crafted this song.

Lyrics
verse 1
Lonely cabin in the mountains
I told nobody so nobody knows
My private get-away, oh the bridge to town washed away
Now what can I do but shiver and shrug?
Middle of nowhere, alone with a bug
chorus 1
The fly and I pray together, way up high near the peak
Watching our lamplight slowly fade
A-buzz with whatever hope remains
The fly and I, not afraid to die
verse 2
I never knew this but flies like jerky
Or maybe he's desperate 'cause that's all that's left
How does he manage it, oh I tried but I had to quit
It felt like I was breaking my jaw
Not sure anymore what my teeth are for
chorus 2
The fly and I pray together, way up high near the peak
Watching our lamplight slowly fade
A-buzz with whatever hope remains
The fly and I, not afraid to die
verse 3 SPOKEN:
Now these last hours I've learned something
The fly and I are pretty much the same
He taught me the value of a little companionship
And I feel I owe him an eternal debt for it
So I said "When I split into the infinite
"My little friend, please have at it!"
chorus 3
The fly and I pray together, way up high near the peak
Watching our lamplight slowly fade
A-buzz with whatever hope remains
The fly and I, not afraid, not afraid
The fly and I pray together
Way up high, near the peak
