Story Behind The Song
I wrote the chorus, then tried to think of what the song might be about, so I could write verses. Finally thought of a friend with oppressive parents, and that was it.

Lyrics
Though I was born into your family, still I'm a stranger in this land,
the answer to what's wrong with this picture, I never quite fit into your plans,
I always longed for your approval, hoping someday you'd under stand,
but it's alright now, I don't need that anymore,
you know it's alright now, I don't need that anymore,
finally I know how to end this little war,
I don't need that anymore
of expectations I could not possibly fulfill,
and every recycled aspiration is somebody else's time to kill,
I used to bend in all directions, but here I stand absolutely still,
and it's alright now, I don't need that anymore,
you know it's alright now, I don't need that anymore,
finally I know how to end this little war,
I don't need that anymore...
lately I'm turning into water, finally I'm slipping through your hands,
and I would not truly be your daughter if I caved in to your demands,
no longer tied upon this altar, I'm not your sacrificial lamb,
but it's alright now, I don't need that anymore,
you know it's alright now, I don't need that anymore,
finally I know how to end this stupid little war,
I don't need that anymore..
you know it's alright now..
finally I've learned how to end this little war,
I don't need that anymore...
