And They Dance

Story Behind The Song

This song was written for my Parent's 50th wedding anniversary. In the early 1950's, they were married in a very small northern Alberta town, in an old log Church that still stands today. My Dad passed away 10 years ago and my Mom passed away a just before her 91st Birthday and what would have been around their 65th Wedding Anniversary. They had seven Kids, the first son passed away at birth, and the rest are still living. in June of 2025, My Mom entered into Heaven with all of her kids , many grand kids, and several great-grand kids at her side. They had a good life!

Song Description

This song describes the love and emotion of a young couple on their wedding day. My Dad nervously awaited the door to open for his bride- my Mom, to step through and enter into what ended up as over 60 years of marriage. The song paints the picture of each couple who eagerly and nervously anticipated their first day as man and wife, and then the celebration of a very full and satisfying life, surrounded by the fruit of their love and life together- many children, Grand children, and Great Grand children.
