Story Behind The Song

About 15 years ago I wrote this music as it came out of me. No preconditions or perceptions. The mood is sad but hopeful sounding and nothing I could come up with for lyrics was working. So it remained an instrumental for years. Then not to long ago one o

Lyrics

Looking out my window
The rain comes down in the Darkness of the night
An eerie hypnotic rhythm
Relaxes me and lets my soul take flight
I think about the turmoil
I think about how everything went wrong instead of right
And in my darkest hour
You rescued me to show my soul there's a better end in sight

Why-o-why
Do you haunt me in the night
Why-o-why
Aren't you here
Why-o-why
Did fate send your guiding light
When tomorrow you'll disappear

I wake up in the morning
The sun shines through a turquoise sky of blue
My joy's replaced by sorrow
Another day beginning without you
I can't forget how you made me feel
I can't forget your smile
Touched by love through destiny
If only for a while

Why-o-why
Do you haunt me in the night
Why-o-why
Aren't you here
Why-o-why
Did fate send your guiding light
When tomorrow you'll disappear

Looking back at on everything
The words we shared the joy it brings
We now know why we're here
Healing both our broken hearts
Jaded views and open scars
Forever grateful that you cared

Why-o-why
Do you haunt me in the night
Why-o-why
Aren't you here
Why-o-why
Did fate send your guiding light
When tomorrow you'll disappear
