Story Behind The Song
Based on a series of personal experiences. (But we're not saying whose)
Strung out, kicked in the teeth, stabbed in the heart and smiling; the character in this song is told to "Get In Line" each time he tries to take a relationship to the next level of love.
That the character finds himself blacked out in Memphis when he's supposed to be in Texas, locked out of his truck after hanging out in a Nevada brothel or by himself on vacation when his girl friend at home finally decides to have a threesome doesn't make him any less lovable.
In contrast, even though he's created his own screwed up set of circumstances - you can't help but root for this guy and be on his side.
That's the story - and I'm sticking to it!

Lyrics
Verse 1:
Broke again in Memphis with a hard one tied on.
I think that train to Texas I was supposed to ride on.
Last night I was a daddy in a Fast Back Ford.
Today I'm bummin' a smoke off some riverbank whore.
CHORUS:
She said:
Go Get In That line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go Get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said, get in line
If you want something better,
better get yourself to the end of the line.
Verse 2:
Scored me a job in New York for that high dollar pay.
I called my olive eyed baby and said, "I'll pick you up at JFK."
She said, "I miss you so much baby but there's something you need to know. I married a marine out in San Diego"
....go
Chorus:
Go Get In That line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go Get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said, get in line
If you want something better,
better get yourself to the end of the line.
Guitar SOLO:
Verse 3:
Found me a piece of drift love in that grand Puget Sound.
Who thought I'd find something so fine just floating around.
A sunshine girl to keep my world in constant rotation.
And man she liked it wild in that French style - Wait man
I was away on vacation!
CHORUS
Go Get In That line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go Get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said, get in line
If you want something better,
better get yourself to the end of the line.
Verse 4:
So I'm driving across the country in my old GMC.
Seems like this whole trip man I've just been riding on "E".
I pulled into a juke joint wondering why I even bothered.
Got locked out of my truck while I was stealing a look from some whore in Nevada!
Chorus:
Go Get In That line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said get in line.
Go Get in that line.
Just get in that line.
She said, get in line
If you want something better,
better get yourself to the end of the line.
