Yes I Can

Story Behind The Song

From Lucie Lynch: I wrote "Yes I Can" as a statement to reclaim my zest for life at a time when I was feeling really down on myself, then looked around and realized that so many others out there feel the same way. Every time I play the song, not only does it lift my spirits, others who hear it tell me that they would like to carry the song with them to help remind them of their power and beauty. This song has become a mantra to remind me that yes, I am worthy of love and joy and live into the fullest expression of who I came to this Earth to be - and I hope that it can do the same for you too! Every journey starts with the first step; every album with the first song; everything is energy and with your support we can raise our vibration one song at a time as we declare "Yes I Can!"

Song Description

The happy, innocent little ukulele intro breaks almost immediately into a rock ballad of epic proportions as Lucie Lynch's powerful voice begins to tell us a story we are all too familiar with. She takes us to the bridge proclaiming her presence, then launches into the song's powerful proclamation "Yes I can / Here I am / No more hiding in darkness / I'm ready / To stand in the light." Nick Gertsson's heavy electric guitar swells in the background of the chorus, then breaks in with his own distinct, epic wails to bring us to the second verse. Lucie lifts us even higher still as the song builds to its crescendo, and I can?t help but sing along with the second chorus to proclaim my presence - Here I am - right alongside her. Gertsson's guitar solo launches us into the stratosphere, and by the end of the song I am standing on my chair, I am raising my hands to the sky, and I am ready to conquer the world!

Lyrics

Out on the road
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to hide
Wanna go with the flow
Feel so alone
With no-one here to
Guide me through

I close my eyes
With an open mind
I can see a ray of light
I hear a voice
From deep inside
It's calling me

Here I am
Here we are

And I say
Yes I can
And I say
Here I am
No more hiding in darkness
I'm ready
To stand in the light x2

Lifting the veil
Open the gate
I'm here to shine
It's never too late
Finding my why
Always will be guided through

Feeling my heart
Opening wide
I can see the
Rising yide
Feel so alive
I hear the world
It's calling me

Here I am
Here we are

And I say
Yes I can
And I say
Here I am
No more hiding in darkness
I'm ready
To stand in the light x2

Here I am
Here we are

And I say
Yes I can
And I say
Here I am
No more hiding in darkness
I'm ready
To stand in the light x2
