Story Behind The Song
Somewhere between the age of thirteen and thirty-five, every guy in this world will have their heart broken by a woman at least once. ?Elvis? is about the girl that broke mine when I was 17. I wore my heart on my sleeve and fell head over heels only to get burned in the end. As time passed, the memories faded, but never completely. And even though, she broke my heart, I was stilled consumed by her for years after. This song is a tribute to that girl and the obsession that continues to haunt me.
Song Description
A non-traditional rhythmic pattern beneath colorful guitar leads and bright piano fillers provide the laid-back vocals an intriguing instrumental bed in this contemporary alternative pop piece about love, hysteria and obsession. Key-shifts, guitar tone over-drives and drum breaks add effective dynamics throughout the song as does the rhythmically and melodically varied bridge. Finally, a pleasantly unexpected Jembai solo highlights the chorus?s melody and leads back into a guitar-driven closing.

Lyrics
You?re my stroke of lighting
You?re my Elvis sighting
You still consume my every thought and dream
Every time I think I?ve seen the brightest light
I wished you were there with me
In an instant you became so distant
Yet I still feel your breath on my cheek
I?ve seen the darkest of times
Guilty of unforgiven crimes
But every time I see your smile
It drives me wild.
You?re my stroke of lighting
You?re my Elvis sighting
You still consume a part of me
You?re my broken arrow
You?re my star lit shadow
You still invade my every thought and dream
I know deep inside you miss my gazing eyes
And how safe you felt close to me
Every breath I take and all those nights I lay
Awake in a dream so real
I?ve seen the darkest of times
Guilty of unforgiven crimes
But every time I see your smile
It drives me wild.
Contemplating my desire
I cannot believe your fire still burns me
Twisted in my own illusions
Complicated in confusion
Anarchy, inside of me
When will you stop haunting me
You?re my stroke of lighting
You?re my Elvis sighting
You still consume a part of me
You?re my broken arrow
You?re my star lit shadow
You still invade my every thought and dream
