WHEN I GET HOME

Story Behind The Song

Artie and David have been songwriting partners and have played in a couple of bands together since 1977. Artie and Bobb have played in a couple of bands together. Bobb and David played in a couple of bands together. We got together one afternoon to jam. The songs were recorded live and improvised on cassette. We decided to overdub onto a cassette 8-track and because our real names spelled out "BAD" three ways, we decided to create fictional characters and call ourselves 3BAD. This is one of 30 songs and is one that might be appropriate for some of the calls for hard rock for another band to perform.

Song Description

This is a satirical song about misogyny.

Song Length 5:57 Genre Rock - Hard Rock

Lyrics

Waking up before the sun as you snore to beat the band
Sweating bloody rivers, by your first sit on the can
Pullin' another double, maybe they'll ask for three
And they don't pay no overtime - that's life in the factory

So is it too much to ask for some love
When I get home, when I get home

A man like me has got his reasons for hanging with the boys
Down a few beers and Tequila - it's something you avoid
Here comes desire, I stumble off to bed
But you just lay there bitching, babe, about an aching in your head

Is it too much to ask for some love
When I get home, when I get home

Yeah, you play that saxophone while I get reacquainted
with Mr. Beam, here

Is it too much to ask for some love
When I get home, when I get home

Curlers on head, crackers in bed
You're putting on weight, the waterbed breaks
The kids & TV, they go floating downstream
This isn't a dream, this ain't what I need
When I get home, when I get home

I take you where the booze costs nothing - for girls - on even days
And you are ready to head on home before the solo plays
The song ain't even over and your nose is in the air
And I wouldn't mind it half as much if you let me see down there
But I'm left to wonder and stare

Is it too much to ask for some love
When I get home, when I get home

So when you see me swimming in whiskey and cheap perfume
Don't get yourself in a frenzied tizzy - the world might end real soon
Let me have my way then, and just leave me alone
But I'll be needing loving babe, every night when I get home
When I get home, when I get home

Is it too much to ask for some love
When I get home, when I get home

Curlers on head, cracker's in bed
You're putting on weight - the waterbed breaks
The kids and TV, they go floating downstream
This isn't a dream - this ain't what I need
When I get home, when I get home
When I get home, when I get home

You ask for conversation while I'm looking for a beer
Keep interrupting my fishing show asking why I'm still here
And when I want a tumble, you won't let me touch
How I miss that party girl who liked to play it rough

Is it too much to ask for some love
When I get home, when I get home

Hey! .... HEY! ... What the hell you doin'? .. Get up! ..... What? ...
I know it's 3AM, but I'm hungry! Get your ass outta bed!
I want flapjacks!
