Story Behind The Song
Originally intended to be background music for a "we are doomed" type movie/TV show/ (It's on the web site under "Em7 Background".)
Then, it was intended to morph into more of a "song" with lyrics. (Lyrics are forthcoming.)
In the interim, it has turned into an instrumental.
At that point the title changed to "5 Seconds".
You know how as you go through life and look back on things, and sometimes you come to forks in the proverbial road, and in a matter of a few heartbeats the course of your life can change based upon the decisions that you make? Well, there you have it. Sometimes 5 seconds can make all the difference.
Song Description
Version #2: Also "electric", but has a different solo at about 02:35. It is sort of a chiming open string thing. The inspiration for that came from an old friend of mine about 40 years ago, a Mr. John Foley. He showed me how to play a two octave G major scale using open ringing strings along with fretted notes. It sat around as basically a novelty or trick for 40+ years, and one day I got the idea of where to finally use it. By changing one or maybe two notes you can also get an A7th, an Em, and a D major scale as well, to play over the backing chord changes.
(See Version #1 for more info on the basic song.)
