Titanic Love Affair

Story Behind The Song

I am known best as a musician in my hometown for playing the Wilco song "I am Trying to Break Your Heart", which everyone calls the "Dixie Cup" song because of the last verse. I play it for someone in particular, who I miss every day. I had a conversation with her in a dream once, where she told me I could fly away, and I told her she drew pretty houses. It's just a dream, and it doesn't seem to mean anything.

Lyrics

What is left of your kingdom,
That I could fly a mile high above?
Why don't you and me and you and me
You draw pretty houses, and you unbuilt me

What is left of the epithet nightmare?
I must give in to my conditioning reasoning
Music left with no musician
A conversation I began in a dream

A titanic love affair I began in a dream

I would give my life and a day
To continue the conversation I began in a dream.
