Story Behind The Song
"When we were getting ready to officially "drop" the song ["Hold On"] to iTunes and pick a release date, the preceding 24 hrs I happen to be thinking and missing my grandfather, who recently passed away last father's day, and his birthday happens to be May 3rd... all the while being reminded of the devastating May 3rd tornado that happened in my home town of OKC.. after seeing the recent tornado tragedies that have affected our country.. so it seemed to be the perfect fit.. everything has fallen into place...and we hope this songs fits into your life, no matter what you you may be facing.."
Song Description
I wrote this song to give people hope..make people feel good... no matter what may be going on in your world, your personal life. The lyrics came to me literally over night. We have all gone through challenges in our own life-long journey.. I like to think the harder the struggle, the better end result is waiting just around the corner.. maybe you've lost a loved one... or someone you know is fighting a disease.. or you just got laid off get a job.. lost your home.. maybe you're just trying to fulfill your wildest dreams... just when you think you're ready to give it all up, just "Hold On" a little longer, and everything will work out. There is a neat story behind this song... but let's just say the song itself has taken on a journey of its own...
From the producer, Lyn Olson:
One of 20 demos we recorded over the last year was a song entitled Hold On. This song was perfected to become Amanda's recent single release . . . Hold On. When you hear the tune Hold On . . . it may be hard to imagine that the song is comprised of basically two musicians: All vocals and instruments were performed by Amanda and me except for the following: the violin section was a stack of 24 tracks played by an amazing violinist, Robin Moreland (played from a string arrangement I wrote about 30 minutes before Robin arrived at the studio) . . . in addition the choir near the end was comprised of 52 separate tracks of Amanda, me, and my son. We desired to maintain the purity of the recording process. The vocals used on Hold On were originally intended to be scratch vocals just for the demo . . . but her "scratch" vocals were so good . . . we never replaced them and the scratch vocals are what you hear in the final mastered release of Hold On! Amanda is a true artist, musician, and singer . . . she is simply amazing!

Lyrics
It's hard to see the future come
when we know we're not the only one
who's trying so hard, trying so hard
Will we ever give way
Scared of everything we have today
Just falling apart, falling apart
Hold on forever
Hope now for better
Giving every little bit of me in
Hoping it will be the end of dying so hard, dying so hard
We will not fail, no
Love will prevail
Just hold on
Never feeling quite the same
No, I'm not the only one to blame
I'm trying so hard, trying so hard
Nothing really ever said or done
No, it's not the only battle won
I'm fighting so hard, fighting so hard
Hold on forever
Hope now for better
All I really ever want to do
Is get my heart to move me through all that I got
Give it all that I got
We will not fail, no
Love will prevail
Hold on
There's a detour on the road
With a million miles left to go
Gotta see it now, gotta see it now
When there's no place left to go
When you're up against the wall you know
Gotta believe it now
Gotta be it now, be it now
We will not fail, no
Love will prevail
Hold on
