Story Behind The Song

While on a lunch break outside, a small bird landed on my table and stayed there. It struck me as such a special moment of two souls intersecting. The bird's nature reflected my own yearning of freedom, and even though we were sharing this wonderful moment together I knew the bird would eventually fly away... And I would return back to my 9-5 job. Sydney Clemenson was a girl I met on a songwriting retreat in Vancouver. We wrote this song together there. The more time I spent with her the more I realized she resembled the bird in so many ways... free and effortless (you can hear it in her voice when she sings). More so, we started to develop strong feelings for each other. Unfortunately, the trip was short and we eventually had to go back home (her to California and myself to New York). So the song is about her, it's about me, it's about the bird... and it's about love being the ultimate freedom there is.
