Story Behind The Song
In June of 2013, a publisher asked me if I'd be willing to take a crack at writing a Christmas song for Susan Boyle. It didn't work out, but the opportunity was a really growing experience and one that changed me as a writer.

A unique Christmas song from the perspective of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Co-written with Christopher Haewthorn.

Lyrics
VERSE 1
Oh tender child, so meek and mild
When you're older I've much to tell
An angel said you'd come
That I would be the one to raise Immanuel
So heaven bent down low
To change the life I'd known
By giving me the greatest gift of all
Now stars above all brightly shine
Down on you, my son, divine
How can this be?
CHORUS
Because You came
I realize who I was born to be
And even though nobody else could see
A brighter vision beams
Now that You're here
This weary world at last can find some peace
Discover all the hope and cheer it needs
The herald angels sing
VERSE 2
Oh newborn son, my chosen one
With humble grace you came
In manger, rough and cold
Where shepherds, they behold, on lonely plains
Your infant light is blazing bright
Against the backdrop of the night
This world is blessed!
