Story Behind The Song
This song wasn't a personal situation but came from imagination of a situation and being in touch with the feeling of a good relationship that, for whatever reason, didn't work out. The guy is heartbroken. I remember listening to an early mix of this song in my car and getting all teary. The Hawaiian intro to the song is in keeping with a bit of a Hawaiian theme running through a lot of the album from which this song came ... our 2003 release of "Waiting For Luck To Come" by Wilfred N & the Grown Men. Two of the songs from this album have had some good success: one was in an episode of the SONY Pictures hit tv series "Joan of Arcadia". Another is slated to be included in an upcoming New York feature length film.
Song Description
This is a song about the end of a relationship that had looked like it was going somewhere. In writing this song, I was picturing train stations in Europe. There was something poetic about the opening line scene where the guy sees the girl at the station, leaving for good.

Lyrics
I saw you at the station - you watched me wave goodbye
I didn't get to ask the reason why
Surprised that you were leaving - I thought we worked it out
There must have been a shadow of a doubt
And I said, "Oh oh oh I'm sorry"
You said, "No no no you're not"
and gave back all the presents that I bought
And now I'm oh so lonely
And you're probably crying, too
You didn't have to do what you had to do
Remember when we were happy? Remember our holiday?
I promise that we'll go again one day.
Believe me when I tell you - have I ever once lied to you?
Maybe I've been wrong, but I was true.
And I said, "Oh oh oh, I love you"
And I thought you would say it, too
But you brought up something else - out of the blue
And that's what had me thinking
That something was not the same
It's hard to know when no one is to blame.
(Instrumental)
I said, "Oh oh oh I'm sorry"
You said, "No no no you're not"
All the good we had - I haven't forgot
And now I'm oh so lonely
And you're probably crying, too
Oh - ohhhhhh
Oh - I'm sorry
And oh - I love you
Why'd you do what you had to do?
Oh - oh
Oh - oh
