Story Behind The Song
I wrote this for my mother who helped me as a youth, but it could work for a friend as well. She has passed but I repaid her during the last years of her life when she needed assistance.

Lyrics
Repay
Years ago, when all the waves came crashing down, as I drowned you reached for me
And when I was blind, you took the time to show me how to see
When the weight of my decisions crushed me till I could not breathe
You didn't judge, you picked me up and taught me to believe
Though you had dragons of your own to slay
You never showed that you were afraid
You led me from the shadows when I could not find my way through
Somehow, someday in my lifetime I swear I will repay you
I swear I will repay you
Your beautiful smile lit the room like a ray of sun on a diamond floor
All the while you concealed the scars of the burden you bore
That sacrifice gave me life so I could face the world once more
You gave your love, you held me up, and showed me life is worth fighting for
Though you had dragons of your own to slay
You never showed that you were afraid
You led me from the shadows when I could not find my way through
Somehow, someday in my lifetime I swear I will repay you
I swear I will repay you
If I had known the secrets that you never revealed
I would have shared that burden with you
But you gave me all the happiness that you could steal
So I would have the life you never knew - you never knew
You led me from the shadows when I could not find my way through
Somehow, someday in my lifetime I swear I will repay you
I swear I will repay you
I swear I will repay you
