Lyrics

State of the Union

My world's been changing
Since you left me wondering why
About love life and everything
And if any rules apply
I may mourn loss of innocence
Yet I've not a tear to cry
Now I can't move
Since you tore the wings off this butterfly

So won't you tell me
Am I not enough for you
Did we not have a union
That was steadfast, strong and true
Were there not times when that union
Had our spirits flying high
Now I can't move
Since you tore the wings off this butterfly

Now my fa├žade my seem hard to you
But deep inside this cocoon
I am fragile
But do I need you for my cure

So won't you tell me
Am I not enough for you
Did we not have a union
That was steadfast, strong and true
Were there not times when that union
Had our spirits flying high
Now I can't move
Since you tore the wings off this butterfly

My world's been changing
Since you left me wondering why...

Song has an interesting vibe and cool lyrics. There's potential for something better.

The melody, harmony, instrumentation and recording were well done. The lyric structure is actually a verse/refrain structure - where you put the title line and hook at the end of each verse. The lyrics were well written and with the repeat of the "wings off this butterfly" at the end of each line, I think the song title would make more sense to be called "Butterfly"

great opening guitar sound. intro builds nicely. nice strings. The sax sound at the end helps the build of the overall song
