Story Behind The Song
The song was accidentally written in the midst of trying to write another, completely different type of song. I decided to take a break from what I was working on, and just mess around with some big chords. The lyrics more or less fell out.

Lyrics
"Darker Shade Of Blue"
Tirk Wilder
There's a newspaper blowin' down this empty city street,
From my second story window, I feel an itch in my feet,
Some people keep alive by the seat of their pants,
But I'm like abandoned newsprint,
Lookin' for that second chance, and
From the colors of the spectrum,
The indigo shines through,
But, baby, from my perspective,
It's just a darker, just a darker shade of blue,
I've played all the games, I've passed through all the stages,
I've had heroes, I've had lovers, I've tried out all the rages,
I've kept myself sane by an effort of will,
But there's this crazy man inside me,
I'm gonna have to fulfill,
REPEAT CHORUS
I take time out from my busy day,
To shed a tear or two,
Like I've got something in my eye,
That reminds me of you,
And it turns my whole day to a much deeper hue,
And I don't know why these changes keep goin' on so long,
You know, I thought I'd always love it,
But I think I'd trade it for this song,
I don't have any doubt that I can keep my poise,
But it's so hard to hear myself mixed in with all this noise,
REPEAT CHORUS, TAG, and OUT
