It was August, hot and humid, day in Mississippi
When Preacher Bob finally heard the call that he'd been missing
For 15 years he pastored the First Revival Baptist Church
But the congregation ain't been tithing; now it's starting to hurt
So he called his friend Preacher Jim at Pentecostal down the road
They hatched a plan; sure the hand of God would guide the seeds they sowed.
The seeds they sowed, and the money they owed
Put them on that Mississippi road
To the Natchez bank, with a word of thanks
They withdrew everything that they could load
To improve cash flow, for the seeds they sowed.
Preacher Jim drove the church SUV to town
Preacher Bob put on a mask and walked in without a sound
Walked right up to the teller, said lately I've been kind of strapped
So I've got this here 45, I'll be needing all your cash
He took the bills said goodbye and got in with Preacher Jim
They praised the Lord, passed the loot and took off for Birmingham.
Chorus:
Wasn't long before the county sheriff got the word
The preachers had that SUV and $40,000 they transferred
The preachers they split up found Bob in Louisiana
Jim had the SUV in Birmingham Alabama
The deacons they all said, Lord we didn't know thee
And Preacher Jim tell us since when this church owned an SUV
Chorus:
They never found all the money from that holy heist
But they say there is a child in Jackson, and Lord that child dresses so nice
Chorus:
