Song Description
The song itself is full of metaphors used to describe an extremely toxic relationship. The "villian" could almost seem sociopathic. The experience people go through in these scenarios can ultimately make you stronger & put the victim in a position of taking back that power the other person had over them. You realize you don't need that person anymore, that their empty apologies mean nothing & how, in time, you can realize just how parasitic the other person can be. There is a plot twist at the end of the song...
When that 'power' is taken back.

Lyrics
You are cyanide in a cup
Disguised yourself as water,
Turned to me and said - "Drink Up!"
Blinded by your smile,
I thought you were the sun.
But you were only car headlights
On your way to run me over...
Now, good news baby..
I don't need you anymore.
So take your "sorry's"
And shove them right UP YOURS!
You say you feel broken..
Well, good - I hope it hurt!
'Cuz anything I did,
You did to me - TEN TIMES WORSE!
I gave you my all..
I guess it wasn't enough.
I'm not really complaining..
You made me more tough.
I know nothing 'bout trust
And you know nothing 'bout love.
We were doomed from the start,
But, I am not the one who gave up..
Now you're on your hands & knees..
No more second chances,
You were too hard to please!
I never should have
Let you in at all..
Now I'm just another face
To hang on your wall
Oh, Cyanide
Oh, Cyanide
Oh, Cyanide
Oh, Cyanide
Yeah!
I gave you my all..
I guess it wasn't enough!
I'm not really complaining..
You made me more tough!
Now you're on your hands & knees..
No more second chances..
You were too hard to please!
I am cyanide in a cup.
Disguised myself as water,
Turned to you and said...
DRINK. UP.
