Dm Dan's heart was heavy as he drove the road in stormy weather.

Dm Dan heard those words his grampa said as he held his newborn son.
Am But he thought more of being cool in the eyes of everyone.
G He climbed the ladder of success - got rich along the way.

Dm Dan's son was handed everything. He rarely heard a "No".
Am He missed his father's guidance. Dan was always on the go.
G He never really learned to give. He knew how to receive.
C And when he got into a jam, he learned how to deceive.

Dm At eighteen, he found out that there would be no more free ride.
Am And Dan was noticing his son had grow corrupt inside.
G He tried to win with reason his son's heart which had grown cold.
C But soon he saw the wisdom in the words that he was told.

Dm Dan thought as he passed the graveyard's gate, he never knew his dad.
