Story Behind The Song
This began as a sketch for an interrupted kissing scene between a young man fated to die of cancer and his lifelong female friend whom he realizes he loves romatically. It was not used in the film, but was adopted to underscore a televised reading of letters home from Rachel Corrie, who was crushed to death by an Israeli army bulldozer destroying homes in occupied Palestine.
