Song Description
This song was written after the passing of my father. My mother and father divorced when I was at the age of 12. Fortunately, they reunited when I was 16. It was a difficult transition for both my father and I. I held resentment and anger towards him for years that built a wedge between us. After the passing of my mother and I in my mid 20's, I came to realize there was a need to make amends and move on. We became good friends and I found a place inside my heart to forgive.

Lyrics
Distant Native Son
Always knew that there would come a time
I'd see your life pass by my eyes
Now it's here and it's so clear
That I'm your distant native son
The story only runs for forty years
But I lived your childhood fears
Within my tears that lead me here
To be your distant native son
Though the distance comes between us
It won't matter anyhow
I'm carrying the passion
That always made you proud
I remember on that final day
You shook my hand before I walked away
Your eyes said all that was to come
To this distant native son
