Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song after my husband and sister had a conflict and I was feeling the fracture in what was once a harmonious family bond. This was a specific time in our lives when we were drinking quite a bit, and I was also feeling like my roots had been torn up in every area of my life, especially my personal relationship with God. I was feeling a draw to get back to my roots and away from all of the conflict in my life. I always felt peaceful in that place.
Song Description
Feeling like I have allowed myself to drift from a relationship that means a lot to me, that I once considered home. The relationship in this song, specifically to me is the relationship with God where peace is easy and love is free. Although the song is written to be relatable to any close relationship. In this song, the main character is feeling sad, loss, has started drinking, and has come to the point where she is praying to get back to a healthy place. To be shown the way back home to the relationship that was lost.

Lyrics
One hand on the bottle
My knees on the ground
This life came out swinging
I just want you to be proud
It never made
much sense to me
How we want love
then do these things
Show me the way back home
back to your arms
Show me the way back home
to where I belong
Where peace is simple
And love is free free free
Where it is simple
where I'm supposed to be
One hand on the bottle
My knees on the ground
Sometimes I feel like giving up
But you love me anyhow
It never made much sense to me
How we want love then do these things
Show me the way back home
back to your arms
Show me the way back home
to where I belong
Where peace is simple
And love is free free free
Where it is simple
where I'm supposed to be
oooooooo
oooooooo
oooooooooh
Show me the way back home
back to your arms
Show me the way back home
to where I belong
Where peace is simple
And love is free free free
Where it is simple
where I'm supposed to be
Show me the way back home
back to your arms
Show me the way back home
to where I belong
Show me the way
Show me the way
Show me the way back home
Show me the way
Show me the way
Show me the way back home
