Story Behind The Song
When she was young, Jilly was in a toxic relationship that turned abusive....and extricating herself from that took years of therapy. In addition, it took her years to understand what happened. Writing poetry helped her to work through the trauma and to release the fever dream of whatever happened. Writing poetry and finding her voice was the only way she survived family trauma, sexual abuse and stalking in college. Breaking Wheel is just one example of how she works through the past and brings herself face to face with it.
Song Description
Breaking Wheel is a reflection of being wrapped up in a toxic relationship, and Jilly wrote it after spending years recovering from the after effects. There's a melancholy to the song and to the lyrics that comes from looking 30 years into the past.

Lyrics
Every night the wind blows
feel like smashin' windows
feel like getting too close
I can't let you go
you keep me at a stone's throw
tell me what I need
cause you seem to know
(cause every) everything I am
(every) everything I feel
lies broken on the breakin' wheel
tell me how to feel
cause I'm broken
on the breakin' wheel
We spin in circles
rollin' on the rack
Everything'll turn black
I scream a wakin' dream
'cause you're not comin' back
'till I'm out of breath
And I die a little death
(cause every) everything I am
(every) everything I feel
lies broken on the
breakin' wheel
tell me how to feel
cause I'm broken
on the breakin' wheel
You're alabaster
Beautiful and cold too
I wanna break you
So I can hold you
So I can hold you
So I can hold you.....
Ooooooooo
