Story Behind The Song
When I was writing for the paper at UW-Parkside, there was this other reporter who was a relentless flirt. It never seemed to cross his mind that a girl might not be interested in him. I found it really, rally obnoxious that I couldn't have any kind of interactions with him without feeling like he was trying to inch closer and closer to me and try to smell my hair or something. Ewwww!
Song Description
Vacuous Mind is a fun, witty and poetic rant about misconstrued intentions between men and women. It seems to be very difficult to have a purely non-sexual/ non-romantic relationship between sexes. The theme of this song is that not every polite exchange is an invitation. The music, best described as Spaghetti western, is driving and theatrical.

Lyrics
Carry me over your shoulder but don't
Forget to remember our deal
When it's my stop don't you tighten your fingers
Cause boy I'll be getting off here
Oh boy I'll be getting off here
Diverge vacuous mind
Cut me loose, recast the line
See the scorn beneath my smile
It's too damn kind
Smile and laugh at my jokes if you please
But please do not reach for my hand
Quaint conversation with me does not lead
To anything other than that
Anything other than that
Diverge vacuous mind
Cut me loose, recast the line
See the scorn beneath my smile
Swallow your pride
Oh, no more indecent disarray
Oh, no, no more wanton crave
I don't know what game it is that you're playing
But know that I'm not playing back
You followed me here and asked how my day was
My answer was matter of fact
Answer was matter of fact
Diverge vacuous mind
Cut me loose, recast the line
See the scorn beneath my smile
Flea and deprive
Carry me over your shoulder but don't
Correct me or tell me I'm wrong
Your not my friend, I don't want your opinion;
Stark empty and far overdrawn
Carry me over your shoulder but don't
Forget to remember our deal
When it's my stop don't you tighten your fingers
Cause boy I'll be getting off here
Oh boy I'll be getting off here
Diverge vacuous mind
Cut me loose, recast the line
See the scorn beneath my smile
Wreath and mourn in your denial
Scream and shout, I'll pay no mind
Accept defeat, it's your demise
Just flea and deprive
