Story Behind The Song
Faced with political zoning issue violations, I stayed up into the wee hours reading the law, and often woke up early to write pleadings. All I could do was wish we were living in the great Northwest, kyaking peacefully.
Song Description
V1: Black coffee in the early morning, getting ready to "pound the water" ie: swim, or kyak, boat or travel through rain. V2. Black coffee in the late evening, sending a problem "around the bend" hopefully to the finish. Negotiating complex issues. This song could be taken completely outdoorsy, or for charitable gifts of coffee to homeless, or personal problem solving.

Lyrics
It's a black coffee morning,
the chill is a winter's play.
I'll be pounding the water shortly at the break of day.
Black coffee clearing up the fog
buzzin crickets, larks, and croaking frogs...
Black and bitter, hot from the pot, and a quiet hour to dream is all I want.
It's a black coffee evening, and it's too much to comprehend, but I'm gonna try and sent it clean around the bend.
Black coffee clearin up the fog...
Bridge: Weavin my own little pathway through the signs and cool facades, and silent grim conspiracies to beat all odds...
