Rushing Back

Story Behind The Song

I was thinking about a girlfriend from years ago and then ran into her shortly after when I visited my hometown. I was astounded by how she still held a charm over me, she was still beautiful, and I realized that I never knew it was the real thing at that time so long ago. ( -Mo Morris )

Song Description

The singer thought he was over her until he sees her again, years later. He realizes he loved her back then and that he's again strongly affected by her beauty, and that he'd forgotten how beautiful she is. He wishes he could be strong enough to get over her, make his " heart turn black " when the feelings of love return , but he can't.

Lyrics

Rushing Back

Verse 1

Broke it off some years ago
But there's something you should know
I wish you weren't here today
I wish I wasn't feeling this way

Trans Bridge

It's a step in the wrong direction
But I can't make that disconnection
God, I'd forgotten how beautiful you are
Girl, I've never loved so hard

Chorus

Seeing you again
And that hello hug
Wish my heart could turn black
I loved you back then
Remember that first kiss
Wish my heart could turn black
When it all comes rushing back

Verse 2

When you aren't in front of me
When it isn't your eyes that I see
I can survive not knowing
Whether or not your tears are flowing

Trans Bridge

It's a step in the wrong direction
But I can't make that disconnection
God, I'd forgotten how beautiful you are
Girl, I've never loved so hard

Bridge

Memories
That refuse to fade
I never forget and not a day
Can evade
Without you crossing my mind
This one won't heal over time

Chorus

Seeing you again
And that hello hug
Wish my heart could turn black
I loved you back then
Remember that first kiss
Wish my heart could turn black
When it all comes rushing back

Outro

God, I'd forgotten how beautiful you are
Girl, I've never loved so hard ....
