White Collar Zoo Live Studio Version

Story Behind The Song

The song White Collar Zoo was written way back in 2005 by Lee Thomas who was quoted as saying. "I think it was a Monday when I wrote the song, I'd had a bit of a weekend and the thought of going in to work wasn't very appealing so I threw a sickie, I was messing around on the guitar and thinking about how sometimes being in work feels like you're in a zoo and that we all need to find the right work-life-life balance, the lyrics and melody just started from there, it was a few years later that I'd actually discovered a book titled 'White Collar Zoo' which was written by Clarence Barnes back in 1949 and was a No 1 best seller, it featured animal photo's with hilarious captions based upon the foibles of his uncaged business associates, I found that a very amusing coincidence"

Lyrics

Always on my back when
I do it for you
You put me on the rack when
It's all about you

Monday mornings calling
A crazy sun is dawning
Why am I stuck in this white collar zoooo oooooo oooo oooo

1234

Go!

Mama Papa told me to get a job when I was young
Now I got a ticket on the gravy train I don't like what my life's become
Now I'm here
Doing the monkey run
Feels like my life has just began

Verse

It's a jungle in here I got all these monkeys screaming at me
But as Darwin said you know that's the way that it should beee
I wish that I could fly away
Bring the dinosaurs back to live a day
Why am I stuck in this white collar zooooooo oooooooo oooooo ooooo

Guitar Solo!

I need to break these chains and set my body free
Working 9 to 5's ok but it just don't work for me
I need to climb these vines
Don't wanna learn my lines
Why am I stuck in this white collar zooooooo, oooooooo oooooo ooooo

I'm stuck in purgatory
Don't expect your love or sympathy
Work my fingers to the bone
Don't wanna be here, don't wanna go home
I know you find it tough
I've really had enough
Why am I stuck in this white collar zoooooooo, ooooooo ooooo

Take it away!

I know you find it tough
I've really had enough
Why am I stuck in this white collar zoo oooo oooo

Yeahh eeahh eahhhh ehhhhhhhhhh
Owwwwwwww!
