Lady Lorraine

Story Behind The Song

There are few words that can truly capture the depth of a mother's love, a lifetime of strength, sacrifice, and unwavering support that defines it. But in my latest single, "Lady Lorraine," I've done my best to honor the one woman who has meant more to me than words could ever express: my mom, Lori Gaffney. Trying to fold 55 years of love and dedication into a five-minute song was one of the most emotional challenges I've ever faced as a songwriter. "Lady Lorraine" is more than just music--it's a tribute, a thank-you, and a love letter to the woman who gave me life and shaped the person I've become. From childhood days filled with laughter and learning to life's harder moments where her wisdom and strength lit the way, my mother has always been there. She's been my rock, my biggest supporter, and my compass when I've felt lost. Her sacrifices have built the foundation upon which my life stands. In "Lady Lorraine," I reflect on the moments that have made our journey so meaningful: the way she taught by example, loved without conditions, and gave endlessly of herself without ever asking for anything in return. Whether it was a gentle word of encouragement or simply being there when I needed her most, my mom has always shown up with grace and love. While no song can ever truly encapsulate a lifetime, I hope this one gets close. I hope it resonates with anyone who has known the love of a mother like mine. And most of all, I hope it makes her proud.

Lyrics

Verse 1

She showed us life is what you give

Said "fill it full, and choose to live."

Now every sunset brings her face

A light that time cannot erase

She wore grace like a summer dress

And met each storm with gentleness

Her laughter echoed through the years

A quiet strength behind the tears

She taught me joy in simple things

Like homemade pie and porch swing dreams

The world felt safer by her side

Her very hug would make hurt subside

Chorus

Beachdays, boardwalks and lemonade

The best days in life are family made

Tomorrow is a promise to no one man

Live life to the fullest, be all you can

Give thanks to God and let love grow

A heart of goodness to the world you show

Time well lived is worth the fight

Stay the course and keep the light

Be humble, kind, strong and true

Do unto others as they done unto you

Take a deep breath and let it go

One mile at a time, just take it slow

I learned these lessons from Lady Lorraine

In my heart she'll forever remain

Verse 2

She'd light the way when we got lost

And taught us love was worth the cost

Never rich but she gave us gold

In stories lived and lessons told

A quiet hero, never loud

Three sons she raised, always proud

She left a map of how to be

And stitched her strength right into me

She found the good in every soul

And played her quiet, guiding role

With every step, her light still shines

A steady pulse through changing times

Chorus

Beachdays, boardwalks and lemonade

The best days in life are family made

Tomorrow is a promise to no one man

Live life to the fullest, be all you can

Give thanks to God and let love grow

A heart of goodness to the world you show

Time well lived is worth the fight

Stay the course and keep the light

Be humble, kind, strong and true

Do unto others as they done unto you

Take a deep breath and let it go

One mile at a time, just take it slow

I learned these lessons from Lady Lorraine

In my heart she'll forever remain

Bridge

She's the voice behind every choice

The calm inside my inner noise

When life feels heavy, cold, or strange

I hear her words, they never change

"Stand in truth and walk in grace

Let kindness fill the empty space

When you fall, don't fear the ground

Those that are lost can always be found

Give to others more than you take

And leave the world a better place"

Her spirit lives in all I do

A guiding light that pulls me through

Chorus

Beachdays, boardwalks and lemonade

The best days in life are family made

Tomorrow is a promise to no one man

Live life to the fullest, be all you can

Give thanks to God and let love grow

A heart of goodness to the world you show

Time well lived is worth the fight

Stay the course and keep the light

Be humble, kind, strong and true

Do unto others as they done unto you

Take a deep breath and let it go

One mile at a time, just take it slow

I learned these lessons from Lady Lorraine

In my heart she'll forever remain
