Story Behind The Song
I fell in love with a handsome, talented, sensitive man and we embarked on a voyage of life experiences together. He provided the material for so many of my songs. I love the 6/8 feel of the song and enjoyed doing all the vocals - both lead and backgrounds. It was great watching Bill Bentley throw himself into the arrangement of this song - he seemed to love the challenge and, as always, he met it with all the talent he possesses.

Lyrics
Pirate of Sorts
V1: I fell in love with a pirate of sorts
A lover of life and romance
He carried me off to some faraway ports
Living on wits and by chance
He told me his dreams and his yearnings
His innermost fantasies
He swept me along on the wave of a song
And the thrill of a life on the seas
Cho: He's my sweetheart, my sailor, my captain, my mate
I trust he'll protect me as we navigate
The twists and the turns of this voyage we're on
Together we're strong
V2: The wind raged and roared as we sailed and soared
I absorbed every word that he said
My love for the man was no greater than
My need for the life that he led
Mornings we'd watch the sun rise
Every evening we'd witness its fall
The tide ebbs and flows with no thought for those
At the mercy of love's beck and call
Cho:
V3: If the truth should be known, my life's not my own
It belongs to the man at the helm
His sweetness and charm always seem to disarm me
His strength always overwhelms
The light in the depths of the ocean
Is the light I see shine in his eyes
All that's left to do when this journey is through
Is to map the yet uncharted skies
Cho:
