Story Behind The Song
The same handsome, talented, sensitive man who inspired so many of my songs can take the credit (or blame) for inspiring this one. We had just experienced one of those pointless arguments that arise when the trust factor is waning. I started thinking "if you don't trust me, then there's nothing for me here" and that became the starting point of this song. I tried recording this song years earlier in Detroit but, due to artistic differences (and a particularly diva-ish violinist) never got the right feel as when Bill Bentley took charge. We added the tag section to have the song come full circle.

Lyrics
Nothing For Me Here
I don't know how he feels about
I only know that he doubts me
And if he doubts me, what am I staying here for?
He says he just can't believe me
He says, "You're trying to deceive me
And I just don't want you around here anymore."
You know, this is not a game
Where one of us must win and one must lose
You can't call a truce and leave it there
Suspending our lives in mid-air
We can discuss it one more time
Maybe you'll go your way, I'll go mine
If you don't trust me, then there's nothing for me here
If you don't trust me, then there's nothing for me
