Story Behind The Song
This is the kind of song I grew up singing in church yet I was surprised to create this so many years after relinquishing my church affiliation. It's not that I oppose church - I just got a little saturated with it growing up so, in adulthood, I focused more on independent spirituality (whatever than means) than organized membership. The song wrote itself. My producer captured the mournful, yet respectful feel of the lyrics and melody and the background vocals he arranged (and sang on) are the foundation of the song.

Lyrics
Come to The Water
V1: Come to the water to be washed clean
Come to discover what freedom means
And in my searching, I hope to find
Some semblance of some peace of mind
Come to the water to become whole
To heal your heart - to feed your soul
To be forgiven of all your sin
It's there at the water, I drink love in
V2: Come to the water to find a home
A heavenly haven to call my own
A place where love and honor reign
A place I can feel safe again
Come to the water to be refreshed
Reflect on how you're so blessed
To give love and be loved - to laugh and to sing
I'm grateful for all the water brings
Bridge: We live in a time of confusion
Where nothing is quite what it seems
One thing's for sure - there's solace and more
In the waters of the pure flowing stream
V2: When I come to the water, I come to see
A light that shines eternally
It brings me comfort and makes me calm
It gives me the strength to carry on
There at the water, at the water's edge
Renew your solemn pledge
To be the best that you can be
To face each day with grace and honesty
