Change My Life

Story Behind The Song

I was coming to the end of my usefulness in a job. I was hearing my girlfriends talk about their ennui and the need to shake things up. Next thing you know, this song was born. My producer took the bare song and turned it into an upbeat swing number that was so fun to sing and to hear! It became an anthem reminding me that sometimes I just need to get off my ass and go for it (whatever "it" might be). So I submitted this song as my resignation letter and "changed my life."

Lyrics

Change My Life

V1: Even though I try I know I can't go on living this way
Something's gotta give - I can't live like this - not even one more day
Time to make a change 'cause the strain's gonna bring unhappiness
If I don't do something soon, I'll be doomed to negotiate the stress
Gotta get a handle on this 'cause noone else is gonna do it for me
Time to get real and be honest - time to face reality

Cho: I can do this - go through this
Find my place, renew my faith
Made up my mind - gonna change my life

V2: I know it's been awhile since I smiled in the morning as I wake
It doesn't take a genius to see this - something's gonna break
Caught up in a crisis, wondering why this is happening right now
The time is never right, still the light's gonna shine on it somehow
Gotta step up to the plate 'cause if I don't nobody else will
I can't afford to wait 'cause nothing good's gonna happen until

Cho:

Bridge: Change my life for the better
Change my life for good
Make things right come whatever
Set my sights on the things I should

V3: So there you have it - time to break the habit of letting life dictate to me
Where I'm gonna go, who I know, and just how I'm gonna be
Next time you see me, believe me you'll see a different girl
I made a resolution this new one will take charge of her world
Gotta do this one thing for me 'cause I'm the only one who can
Gonna take charge of my future - redefine who I am

Cho:
