Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song for the first reunion of my paternal grandparents family on 100 years, since their arrival in the United States.
Song Description
My grandparents and great-grandparents fled Europe to escape Nazis or Pogroms or both, just ahead of the Holocaust. This is a song to honor them, and to show my gratitude.

Lyrics
I am descended from people who died for their difference
And I am descended from the brave ones who came to these shores
And I am the child of folks who worked hard for their living
And I'll bet every one of them wondered sometimes what for
Through trouble and tribulations,
The rise and fall of civilizations
Every generation dreams of a better life
So we are the reason for their journey
They are the reason for ours
Love is the question posed by our children
Love was the answer
Given to us.
Those great grandmothers sure must have loved their babies
'Cause I am a mother and I know it's hard to let go And those great grandfathers must have believed in the future
'Cause those sons and daughters were their vessels of hope
Through trouble and tribulations,
The rise and fall of civilizations
Every generation dreams of a better life
So we are the reason for their journey
They are the reason for ours
Love is the message we pass to our children
Love was the message
Given to us.
Looking at each of your faces
I see my own face in yours
United in aspiration
You make me see
What a gift it is to be born
Love is the treasure we will to our children
Love is the treasure given in trust to us
Love is the reason It always was.
