LiquidForm and Memory each describe a moment from their pasts when a relationship went wrong and they were left to lick their wounds and heal from some traumatic experience. The verses describe the pain that they felt at the present time, hinting at the notion that what their ex-lovers did to them was abuse. The chorus works to question whether or not there is such thing as a broken heart, or if it is just learned behavior to love someone so much.
