Story Behind The Song
In 2009, I fired my boss to be self-employed, and this song was inspired by the idea of disenfranchising the corporate system and taking to the open road to be free.
Song Description
A song about freedom, motorcycles, being free from The Man and The System, making your own way, having fun, life on your terms not someone else's.

Lyrics
VERSE 1
I put some time in working for the boss man
Until he told me he had to lay me off and
That's when I realized I couldn't work for
Anybody else (But myself)
I sold my car and I got myself a Harley
For 20 years I've been riding down this highway
When I have to I find myself a work crew
and get my slice of pie (I get by)
CHORUS 1
Life on the road's been good to me
Them young fellas bitch about how rough it can be
But the road's the only place where I am free
That's why the road's been good to me
VERSE 2
So when you're old and you're lying on your death bed
Are you gonna say you wish you had spent
All your precious time to earn some more bread
What you gonna spend it on? (Up in heaven)
Sometimes I like to party on a Sunday
Cuz I don't got no place to be on Monday
All my friends, they don't wanna have no fun they
Answer to The Man (They're pounding sand)
CHORUS 2
Life on the road's been good to me
Them young fellas bitch about how rough it can be
But the road's the only place where I can be me
That's why the road's been good to me
GUITAR SOLO
CHORUS 3
Life on the road's been good to me
Them young fellas bitch about how rough it can be
But the road's the only place where I can be free
That's why the road's been good to me
