Story Behind The Song

This is a lullaby which is sung to 70 year old newborn Benjamin at the opening of the show, and reprised as the final song, when infant Benjamin is in his cradle at the end of his life.

Song Description

Song from the music theater work "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", written in 1983-84, based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the early 20th century, the show tells the story of Benjamin Button, born at age 70 and ages backwards.
