Story Behind The Song
A big inspiration of this piece comes from the scene in The Others where Nicole Kidman's character wanders into the forest where the fog gets heavier and heavier to the point where she cannot see anything but white all around. The ominous and foreboding feeling this scene gives off is reflected in my piece, "The Labyrinth."
Song Description
This dark ambient soundscape paired with unsettling motifs on cello and piano is meant to evoke a feeling of intense fear. The name "The Labyrinth" is meant both figuratively and non-figuratively. Someone who is lost in a maze but cannot find their way out. Or perhaps someone who is trapped in their mind and doesn't know the difference between perception and reality. This short quote can best describe what I saw in my mind when creating this song: "Fog envelops the woods, and you are left with only white and every so often a glimpse of what lies ahead - utter and complete darkness. A hopeless, disturbing sense of dread fills you more with each step."
