Lyrics
[Verse 1]
In the sixties, the music played loud,
The Beatles reached above the clouds,
With their new music, they changed the game,
Elvis re-appeared, we called out his name.
Bob Dylan and folk songs emerged,
Motown grooves made our hearts surge,
A summer of love, Woodstock was a world apart,
Where peace was alive, and hope filled our hearts.
[Chorus]
Echoes of the sixties, ringing so true,
Achievements soaring, but losses broke through.
Civil Rights marches and finally the Act,
Voting rights granted, we made a pact.
[Verse 2]
The 1960's brought the first man in space,
We landed on the moon, oh what a place,
But Vietnam called, and the shadows grew long,
Brave hearts were broken; the war felt so wrong.
Assassinations rocked the nation, made us all cry,
JFK, Dr. King--how could they die?
Robert Kennedy, Malcolm X too,
Legacies of greatness cut down too soon.
[Chorus]
Echoes of the sixties, ringing so true,
Achievements soaring, but losses broke through.
Civil Rights marches and finally the Act,
Voting rights granted, we made a pact.
[Bridge]
Revolution in culture, norms were at stake,
Breaking down barriers; real change we would make,
With voices united, we started to see,
A vision of freedom for you and for me.
Dreams of tomorrow were painted so bright,
In the face of adversity, we still saw the light.
[Outro]
So let's keep on singing, let's carry the fight,
For a world filled with love, where we all share the light.
In the echoes of sixties, our hearts will remain,
Learning from history, a lesson in pain.
(Oh-oh, yeah, yeah)
Together we rise, let the story unfold,
Echoes of the sixties, needing to be told.
