Story Behind The Song
Glen posted a lyrical idea on a songwriter's website and I approached him with a twist on his story line. Several months later, the song was demoed in Nashville.
Song Description
The singer just had a little fight with his girlfriends, so he goes to a local tavern in Southern Texas where a beauty comes on to him. He has to decide whether to respond to this "10" or do the right thing and go home to the woman he really loves.

Lyrics
I was sittin' in a tavern
Down by the Rio Grande
Drinkin? down tequila
Listenin' to the band
Thinkin' 'bout some silly thing
That made us disagree
When a South Texas beauty
Made a move on me
She was a ten
And that?s on a scale of one to eight
Looked so good
I did a double take
Then thought of all the trouble
I could get myself into
She might have been a ten
But that's nowhere close to you
Well she leaned right up against me
With a come-on in her eyes
Said where?ve you been hidin?
Cowboy dance with me tonight
And maybe for a second
I thought what harm would it do
But the image of you darlin'
Kept me anchored to that stool
Chorus
Bridge:
Baby you?ve got me hooked
On more than your good looks
When you add it all up
I?m totally in love
Final Chorus
But she was just a ten
On a scale of one to eight
But we?ve got a history
A whole lot more at stake
Thought makin? up would be
The right thing to do
So I left her in Laredo
?Cause that's nowhere close to you
