Story Behind The Song
It was one of those nights where you are just playing your guitar, strumming pieces of songs, adding parts. And I was thinking of the many friends I have known all along the way that are gone. And I felt I needed some air, and as soon as I walked out on the porch and looked up to the sky a great big shooting star flew across the sky. For what ever life is, this moment gave me hope and inspiration.

Lyrics
It's been a long ride
Fast lanes, moving slow
Up and down like the tide
Built to last... but not to show
It's been a long time
Since I've seen your face
Like a picture in my mind
I carry you... from place to place
I was thinking 'bout those nights
Walked out on that old porch
Didn't even have a reason--just had to stop and look
First thing I saw in the sky--
A shooting star
And I laughed a simple laugh
Thought an easy thought
Maybe we ain't as alone
As it feels sometimes
I played those chords again
On that old guitar of mine
Same ones we always played
Still ringin'... true today
I was thinking 'bout those nights
Walked out on that old porch
Didn't even have a reason--just had to stop and look
First thing I saw in the sky--
A shooting star
And I laughed a simple laugh
Thought an easy thought
Maybe we ain't as alone
As it feels sometimes
and I played some chords
on that old guitar I got
same chords we used to play
and they sounded just as good today
