Story Behind The Song
I was studying African music with Lazarus Ekweme, a Biafran composer, and he told me about an African song that had only one word- "Loneliness". This is my attempt to capture that feeling in as few words as possible.

Lyrics
I am alone, I stand alone in the midnight wind
I am alone, I stand alone in the midnight rain
I am alone, that is my pride and it is my pain
I close my eyes and you're by my side
I look again and see the rushing night
I am alone, I stand alone underneath the sky
I am alone, I stand alone and the clouds roll by
I am alone, I am alone with the sea and tide
I close my eyes, and you're by my side
I look again and see the crashing tide
standing in the pouring rain
The cold and lonely midnight rain
I know that I'll see you once again, again, again
Guitar
Why must I be alone? why must I be alone?
Why must why must why must why must
Why must I be alone?
I am alone in the night by the water
I am alone in the rain by the water
I am alone in the wind by the water
