They Didn't Know © 2005 William E. Dewart
He had heard the town was not the same,
Something about, a ship from outer space,
While he did not know if she was right for him,
Nobody told him, bout the shape she's in.
She did not know what he was saying,
And, he didn't know what the hell she meant,
So he never knew that she could see in his heart,
And she didn?t know that she could use a friend.
Now Frank, the barber, said he'd seen it for himself,
Blinking brightly as it flew over town,
And someone saw her float toward that beam of heavenly light,
Wearing just her pink nightie and her hair on fire.
Boy meets girl, it?s the same old story,
It?s only different when one of them is strange,
When he began to feel, there's something wrong with his heart,
Why, she began to feel alone without him.
Walking by her house he?d hear her scream right out loud,
Yelling and pointing to her plasma screen,
And now and then he'd see a flame of fire shoot out the roof,
A blue light shown brightly all around her house.
Now, he never knew what she was saying,
And, she never knew what the hell he meant,
But slowly, over time? they kept on meeting,
And soon they became... the best of friends.
Boy meets girl, it?s the same old story,
It?s only different when one of them is strange,
But these two folks? they kept on meeting,
And through the years... they were the best of friends.
