Story Behind The Song
This song transports you back to the 1960s. My inspiration was the almost forgotten American band The Beau Brummels. I love the line at the beginning of the second verse "I told her there are things I've done that have brought me shame." You too?

Lyrics
She said it's time to talk, now baby
I hope you understand
She said we've lived and loved so free
But it's time to make a stand
So will you promise to forever
Hold me in your hands?
And, baby, will you be a righteous man?
A righteous man, a righteous man, a righteous man
A righteous man, a righteous man
Be a righteous man
I told her there are things I've done
That have brought me shame
But if you want I'll cleave to you
And you can take my name
Together we will face the storm
And, yes, we'll make our stand
And, baby, I will be your righteous man
A righteous man, a righteous man, a righteous man
A righteous man, a righteous man
Be a righteous man
The triumphs and the tragedies
The times the headboard slammed
The children were her gifts of love
And, man, those years are grand
And through it all we stood together
Just the way we planned
And I did my best to be a righteous man
A righteous man, a righteous man, a righteous man
A righteous man, a righteous man
Be a righteous man
