Story Behind The Song
"I Believe" came about as a means of making sense of discussions with my therapist.
Song Description
The lyrics are kind of dark and edgy, whereas the rhythm and feel are kinda groovy and upbeat, a juxtaposition that accurately reflects the overall theme. It's a song about the relationships we have with the different parts of our inner selves - the Judge who puts a nasty spin on everything, the Protector who keeps us from taking risks for fear of getting hurt, the various younger versions of ourselves frozen in time, re-living embarrassments and trauma. "I Believe" is about coming to the realization that this emotional baggage is all in our heads and is only as powerful as we choose to believe.

Lyrics
I start to panic, on my own
Got no faith, in me alone
All my life, it's been like this
Chasing horrors, just can't quit
I seek the fake adrenaline, it's my escape
How can you do this to me (You don't realize)
Is this what you want me to be (I see it in your eyes)
One day I'll wake up and see, you're just my mind, you're in my dreams
But I believe
Rushing through me, in my veins
I'm in the deep end, there's no mistake
All this time, it's been like this
Leading blindly, ignorant bliss
I keep the fake adrenaline, it's my escape
How can you do this to me (You don't realize)
Is this what you want me to be (I see it in your eyes)
One day I'll wake up and see, you're just my mind, you're in my dreams
But I believe
What am I gonna do
Who am I without you
What happens if I change what I believe
How can you do this to me (You don't realize)
Is this what you want me to be (I see it in your eyes)
One day I'll wake up and see, you're just my mind, you're in my dreams
But I believe
