Tropic Apocalypse

Story Behind The Song

I just wanted to write an Island escape song similar to ESCAPE (the Pina Colada song) that was a bit brighter and more fun, but delivered the same cautionary lesson, that we should look for happiness and romance inside our own existing relationships.

Song Description

"Tropic Apocalypse" is an original coastal storytelling song blending tropical rock, folk, country, soft rock, and calypso rhythm. Bright syncopated acoustic guitar, dry drums, rounded bass, and recurring steel drum motifs create a laid-back island groove, while a warm bass-baritone vocal delivers witty, reflective character-driven lyrics. Sunny on the surface, a thoughtful and cautionary tale underneath--perfect for beach vibes, road trips, and mellow escape playlists. I thought my track "Tropic Apocalypse" might fit travel, beach, nightlife, or emotionally atmospheric scenes. The song is one-stop cleared, with instrumentals and alternate mixes available immediately.

Lyrics

It's been a while, since our last vacation
The travel agent, says the new sensation
Is all-inclusive, baby says pay 'em
So I book. two. tickets. to an island nation

The sand is hot, and the drinks are free
It's paradise, by a blue-green sea
I'm feeling fine but then my heart beats faster
When I spy, a genuine, natural disaster

Bahama mama... Tropic Apocalypse
An island beauty with a grass skirt around her hips
She brings me drinks with a smile that's just for tips
Bahama mama, tropic apocalypse

I caught her eye, when she caught me, glancing
I don't know why, I thought I'd take, my chance then
She's off at twelve, I find out where, she's dancing
And when baby goes to sleep, I'm going out romancing

I get there late... so I ask the bartender, has he
Seen my date, a girl who's curvy and slender
He nods his head, but before he points at-her
He warns me, Son, that girl's a natural disaster

That
Bahama mama, is a tropic apocalypse
An island siren calling sailors to rocky cliffs
She's got a body, that could sink a, thousand ships
Bahama mama, is a tropic apocalypse

He said he
Sailed into town, for a week's vacation
Ten years ago, they were celebrating
Gave in one night, to sweet temptation
My fiancé left me stranded on this island nation

I'd heard enough, to make up my mind
There's only one girl now, that I wanna find
I turn to leave, but then my heart beats, faster
When I spy, a genuine, natural disaster

Bahama PAPA... Tropic Apocalypse
Some island dude's, got his hands on my baby's hips
He makes her sway, like the deck of a rolling ship
Bahama papa... Tropic Apocalypse

I grab her hand, and pull her off the dance floor
We haven't even, made it to the front door
She's already talking 'bout our next vacation
But I think this time I'll take her to an arctic nation

These
Bahama mamas, are a tropic apocalypse
These island cuties are a danger to passing ships
They bring you drinks, with a smile that's just for tips
Bahama mama... tropic apocalypse
