Lyrics

Everything and Nothing
Written by Ann Brodsky

The first born son of a bastard child and a rough necked bronc he was on his own with his heart from the start
Don't ask for nothing. Get it yourself. Love might come around if you behave yourself and be good. He understood.
So he worked for his supper and he worked for love and he kept to himself and he got real strong and he started to roam alone.
He given up woman and taken up searching for God or some teacher to quiet his fear of dying without something.
Some reason for living, some map of the cosmos, some sense of the witness to see the illusion, some knowing of which path led back.

How could a man like that be anything but trouble? How could I think that his love could be easy? How could I miss the point and miss it again and again when right there in my face was everything, and nothing at all.

Years on the road he wore them well like a cared for Harley you'd never sell.
He caught your eye. No wonder why he didn't need much, he wanted less, just a simple life different from the rest and only the best.
He found a place that stilled his mind away from all those things he could not see nor hear though still feared.
So much had been lost, more than his fair share he'd tried his best but given up on everything it seemed.
So he found a world, a way, a time, a truth that spoke to him where he could win.
