Story Behind The Song
Before I started dating the woman who is now my wife, we were battling with letting ourselves give in to the feelings we were having. I was living in the USA and she was in South Africa. Neither of us wanted to put ourselves into a position to be hurt or to hurt the other person, and didn't want to get into a long distance relationship.
One day I sang her a song over video chat and at the end she was crying and I couldn't understand why, until I realized it had been quite a lovey song that I had sung.
later that night I wrote this song. I sang it for her.
We worked through a lot of things and before long I was on a plane to South Africa. Three years later, we are happily married. It all worked out in the end.

Lyrics
The night I made you cry
I didn't quite know why
I was singing you a love song
Written down by someone
Someone that I like
And the night you ran away
Was still the middle of my day
You didn't have to go far
It already was so hard
You're a million miles away
But hold on tight to what your heart is feeling
Both of us, we could use some healing
Makes no sense, everything I'm hearing now
But I'll fly to you somehow
Yeah I'll fly to you somehow
Please don't let me hold your heart
It's like a precious work of art
My hands are dirty, bloodstained
From holding shut my own veins
They've been tearing me apart
So hold on tight to what your heart is feeling
Both of us, we could use some healing
Makes no sense, everything I'm hearing now
*South African Tribal singing*
Hope's not easy to come by
But if you'll stay here by my side
I'll share with you all the years of my life
I'll hold your heart
And never let it break
So hold on tight to what your heart is feeling
Both of us, we could use some healing
Makes no sense, everything I'm hearing now
So hold on tight to what your heart is feeling
Both of us, we could use some healing
Makes no sense, everything I'm hearing now
The night I made you cry
I didn't quite know why
I was singing you a love song
