Old man sitting on a broken chair waiting on the rain too many winters deep in his bones waiting for the seasons to change works his yard like forty acres in the spring puts the empty seed packages on display and drinks his lemonade

Morning gets up and shaves his face makes himself some bacon and eggs goes out on the porch to check on the weather big dark clouds couldn't get better waiting on the rain

Strikes a match lights his pipe and smiles not too far off just a couple of miles counts the seconds between the thunder and the lightning remembers all the colours in his garden waiting on the rain

The rain falls down through his porch roof soaks him right through to his skin the old man on the broken chair smoking his pipe and watching the rain fall on his garden

The season goes by so fast and we all know nothing good can last says he feels the autume creeping in and right behind that the freezing wind then snow falling on his garden
